According to the Boston Herald, several sources have mentioned that UMass is eyeing a move to FBS from FCS. The move to FBS would be provisional in 2011 and 2012, and full FBS status would be as of the 2013 season.

According to the sources, the Minutemen would join the Mid-American Conference (MAC) as a football-only member.

Should UMass join the MAC, they would be the second Atlantic 10 member in the conference. Temple has been a football-only MAC member since 2007.
